Middlecove Swimming Hole

This swimming hole is about a 15 minute drive from St. John's, a very easy spot to spend a couple hours on a sunny day. It is located about an 8 minute walk from Motion Drive, along the East Coast Trail. You can park along the road at the address below (https://goo.gl/maps/4yMhtR4akfp1CMWM9). The signage for the start of the trail is very clear and you cannot miss the swimming hole as it is located underneath a bridge.

The Swimming Hole

As you can see in the video below, the swimming hole gets lots of sun and is easily accessible from the trail, as the trail literally passes over top. You cannot jump into the swimming hole as it is too shallow. We also noticed that there were a couple of nails at the bottom due to the recent construction of the bridge, thankfully the water is clear enough to easily see and remove them. Other than that it is a truly beautiful and relaxing spot.

The Trail

The trail itself goes to Middle Cove Beach (https://goo.gl/maps/csv8m8aZDu5V6w2aA) it takes about 25 minutes each way and is a relatively easy hike. I would reccomend doing the hike first as it has some beautful views and going into the swimming hole on the way back is a great way to cool off.
